Bad Sachsa im Südharz

Bad Sachsa im Südharz is a city in the east of Germany inhabited by 7,510 people nowadays. It belongs to the region Lower Saxony, in the north of the region.

A bit about Bad Sachsa

Bad Sachsa is situated in the southern Harz, 15 km south of Braunlage and 25 km southeast of Osterode am Harz.
The oldest document in which Sachsa is mentioned is written in 1229. The settlement officially gained town status in 1525. Tourism started around 1860. After the town had been recognised as a health resort by the government in 1905 the name was changed to Bad Sachsa (Bad means spa). Bad Sachsa is known for being the town where Berthold Maria Schenk Graf von Stauffenber and his four siblings were sent by the Nazis in 1944, following the failed 20 July plot (plan to assassinate Hitler). The Stauffenber children lived in Bad Sachsa during 1944-45. Other families of the executed officers were imprisoned here.

The town of Bad Sachsa coined banknotes of 10 Pfennig, 25 Pfennig and 50 Pfennig.

10 Pfennig (zehn Pfennig)

This banknotes worth 10 Pfennig was first circulated April the 1st of 1921. On the main side it can be seen in the middle a picture of the town bathhouse. In its left and right it appears Bad Sachsa's coat of arms. and in the upper part, a 10 and the symbol of the Pfenng (Pf). There are two texts: the left one says scenic and medical resort and the one in the right it talks about winter sport and sledge.  
On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen the local coat of arms, the written value of the banknote and the name of the currency in German (Gutschein der Stadt Bad Sachsa am Südharz).  Next to it there's a text which says that after being announced in the local newspapper, the banknote was exchangable during a month. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 7.1 cm x 4.7 cm.
