Myanmar (1994-2004)

This serie of banknotes belongs to the period of Myanmar being ruled by militars (even though Aung San Suu Kyi party won the elections). During this period the country was accepted in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). There are banknotes of  50 pyas, 1 kyat, 3 kyats, 10 kyats, 20 kyats, 50 kyats, 100 kyats, 200 kyats, 500 kyats and 1,000 kyats.  

1 ကျပ်/kyat (တစ်ကျပ်/one kyat)

This banknotes worth 1 kyat was first issued in October the 31st 1996. On the main side right you can see Chinthe, a leogryph (lion-like creature) that is often seen at the entrances of pagodas and temples in Burma, Cambodia and Laos, being their protector. Next to him appears the written value of the banknote and in the upper part, the name of the National Bank in Burmese (မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတော်ဗဟိုဘဏ်). 
In one corner appears a 1 and two opposite corners there are two ၁'s, that is 1 in Burmese. On the other side you can see a boat-rowing at Kandawgyi Lake, in Yangon. You can see two 1's in opposite sides and the written name of the baknote. In the upper part appears again the name of the National Bank, but in English (Central Bank of Myanmar), and it's fulled with geometric decoration. This banknote has the letters BCM as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 13 cm x 6.5 cm. 

10 ယ်ကျပ်/kyats (တစ်ဆယ်ကျပ်/ten kyats)

This banknotes worth 1 kyat was first issued in 1997. On the main side right you can see Chinthe, a leogryph (lion-like creature) that is often seen at the entrances of pagodas and temples in Burma, Cambodia and Laos, being their protector. Next to him appears the written value of the banknote and in the upper part, the name of the National Bank in Burmese (မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတော်ဗဟိုဘဏ်). 

In one corner appears a 10 and two opposite corners there are two ၁၀'s, that is 10 in Burmese. On the other side you can see Karaweik Hall (from 1972) at Kandawgyi Lake, in Yangon. You can see two 10's in opposite sides and the written name of the baknote. In the upper part appears again the name of the National Bank, but in English (Central Bank of Myanmar), and it's fulled with geometric decoration. This banknote has the letters BCM as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 13 cm x 6.5 cm.

Myanmar (1965-1979)

This serie of banknotes belongs to the period of general Ne Win militar regime who overthrew U Nu. After passing a new Constitution which defined the country as a "socialist republic", in March 1974 Ne Win was elected President, creating a one-party system, got further from the army, isolated the country, nacionalised the industry and joined the legislative, judicial and executive power in the Revolutionary Council, being re-elected in March 1978. There are banknotes of 1 kyat, 5 kyats, 10 kyats and 20 kyats.  

1 ကျပ်/kyat (တစ်ကျပ်/one kyat)

This banknotes worth 1 kyat was first issued in 1965. On the main side right you can see Aung San, Burmese politician, military and nationalist, commander of the Burmese Independent Army and president of the Antifascist League for the freedom of the peoples. Next to him appears the written value of the banknote, three 1's and ၁'s (1 in Burmese) and in the upper part, the name of the National Bank in Burmese (မြန်မာနိုင်ငံပြည်သူ့ဘဏ်).  
On the other side you can see a fisherman using the traditional method of fishing in Inle lake. You can see two 1's and two ၁'s in opposite sides and the written name of the bankote. In the upper part appears again the name of the National Bank, but in English (Peoples Bank of Burma) and it's fulled with geometric decoration and Myanmar's coat of arms. This banknote has a repeted pattern as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 11.5 cm x 6.6 cm.

Burma: occupation by Japan (1942-1945)

This serie of banknotes belongs to the period of current Myammar being invaded by Japan, stablishing an independent country, a puppet state under the leadership of Ba Maw. There are banknotes of 1 cent, 5 cents, 10 cents, 1/4 rupee, 1/2 rupee, 1 rupee, 5 rupee, 10 rupee and 100 rupee.

5 cents (five cents)

This banknotes worth 5 cents was issued in 1942. On the main side right, you can see the written value of the banknote and  the bank who coined them (Japanese government). There are two 5's, one in each side, and in the lower part there's a text in Japanese.

The letters in red meant that these banknotes were used in Burma. The banknote is fulled with decorative elements. On the other side it can be seen five 5's, one in each corner and one in the middle. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 10 cm x 4.6 cm.
