Bohemia and Moravia: occupation by Germany (1939-1944)

This serie of banknotes belongs to the period in which Nazi Germany invaded the country, creating the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (with all the country's territories but Sudetenland, Sudeten German speakers) leaded by Emil Hácha. There are banknotes of 1 korun, 5 korun, 10 korun, 20 korun, 50 korun, 100 korun, 1,000 korun and 5,000 korun.

5 korun/Kronen (pět korun/fünf Kronen)

This banknotes worth 5 korun was first circulated in 1940. On the main side right, you can see a woman in a a frame, with four 5's surrounding it. In the center appears the written value of the banknote and the name of the country in German (Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren) and Czech (Protektorát Čechy a Morava). In the lower part there is a text in both languages saying that counterfeiting will be punished. All these texts are surrounded by other four 5's. In the left part appears another two 5's, one of them in a laurel wreath.

On the other side of the banknote there's another woman in the left. In the right there are two 5's and in the center appears the name of the country and the written value of the banknote in both German and Czech, plus the coat of arms of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 12.9 cm x 6.2 cm.

Czech Republic (2007-nowadays)

This serie of banknotes belongs to the period in which the country enters the Schengen area and social democrats and liberal-conservatives alternate in power. There are banknotes of 50 Czech crowns, 100 Czech crowns, 200 Czech crowns, 500 Czech crowns, 1,000 Czech crowns, 2,000 Czech crowns and 5,000 Czech crowns.

100 Czech crowns (sto koruna česká) 

This banknote worth 100 crowns was first circulated on October the 15th 1997. On the main side right of the banknote it can be seen Charles IV, an emperor of the Holy Roman Empire that transformed and reigned during the Golden Age of Bohemia. The center has the written value of the banknote and the name of the National Bank in Czech (Česká Národní Banka). In the left there's a gap for the digital watermark and two 100's and decorative elements too.

The other side of the banknote has a stamp from Charles University, in Prague, one of the oldest in Europe. In the left there's a B and in the right, Czech Republic coat of arms, a 100 and in the lower part, a text saying that counterfeiting banknotes is punished by law. This banknote has the king Charles IV as digital watermark and a security thread too. The size of this banknote is 14 cm x 6.9 cm. 

200 Czech crowns (dvě stě koruna česká) 

This banknote worth 200 crowns was first circulated on January the 6th 1999. On the main side right of the banknote it can be seen John Amos Comenius, a 17th century Czech philosopher, pedagogue and theologian, father of modern education. The center has the written value of the banknote and the name of the National Bank in Czech (Česká Národní Banka). In the left there's a gap for the digital watermark and two 200's and decorative geometric elements too.

The other side of the banknote has the hand of an adult touching that of a child and Comenius' book Orbis pictus (The word in images), the first textbook for kids. In the right appears Czech Republic coat of arms, a 100 and in the lower part, a text saying that counterfeiting banknotes is punished by law. This banknote has John Amos Comenius as digital watermark and a security thread too. The size of this banknote is 14 cm x 6.9 cm. 

500 Czech crowns (pět set koruna česká) 

This banknote worth 500 crowns was first circulated on October the 15th 1997. On the main side right of the banknote it can be seen Božena Němcová, a 19th century Czech Realist novelist, known by her novel Babička (The grandma). The center has the written value of the banknote and the name of the National Bank in Czech (Česká Národní Banka). In the left there's a gap for the digital watermark and two 500's and decorative floristic geometric elements too. 

The other side of the banknote has laureate woman, who symbolizes all the female characters in the books of Němcová. In the right appears Czech Republic coat of arms, a 500 and in the lower part, a text saying that counterfeiting banknotes is punished by law. This banknote has Božena Němcová as digital watermark and a security thread too. The size of this banknote is 15.2 cm x 6.9 cm.
