Coblenz

Coblenz is a city in the west of Germany inhabited by 112,582 people nowadays. It belongs to the region Rhineland-Palatinate, in the west of the region.

A bit about Coblenz

Coblenz is situated on both sides of Rhine and its confluence with Moselle. Coblenz name is German is Koblenz (in opposition to French occupation) since 1926.
Coblenz started as one of the military posts establihed by Drusus about 8 BC. The city was a member of the league of the Rhenish cities which rose in the 13th century. After the French revolution, many royalist refugees flooded the city. After ocuuping it during Napoleon's expantion, after WWI France ocuppied it again. During WWII it was heavily bombed and rebuilt afterwards. The Rhine Gorge was declared a World Heritage Site in 2002, including Coblenz. The most important building are the Deutsches Eck (German Corner, monument in homage to the unification of Germany, located where Moselle joins Rhine) and its monument of Emperor Wilheim I.

The city of Coblenz coined banknotes of 25 Pfennig und 50 Pfennig

25 Pfennig (fünfundfünfzig Pfennig)

This banknotes worth 25 Pfennig was first circulated May the 1st of 1921. On the main side it can be seen the coat of arms of the city in the center. In the left and right appears two 25's. These three things are put inside a rhombus. The text says that the banknote loses its value 3 months after the notice in the newspaper cancelling its value. All is surrounded with borders decorated with geometric elements.

On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen Baldwin Bridge, a stone arch bridge over the Moselle built in the 14th century. There are two 25's. All this is surrounded by a border. As for the digital watermark, it has no watermark. The size of this banknote is 9.3 cm x 6 cm.
