Hamelin is lacted south west of Hannover, on the river Wesser.
Hamelin started as a monastery, built in the year 851. During the 15th and 16th century it belonged to the Hanseatic League. In 1843 the people in Hamelin built the popular Klütturm, from the rests of the first fort.The town is famous for the folk tale of Pied Piper of Hamelin (Der Rattenfänger von Hameln), a medieval story that tells of a tragedy that befell the town in the 13th century, popularized by the Brothers Grimm.

50 Pfennig (fünfzig Pfennig)
This banknotes worth 50 Pfennig was first circulated April the 1st of 1922. On the main side it can be seen a 50 surrounded by letters and inside a space whose border is formed with rats and a fruit.
