Norderney is a town in the island of the same name,
belonging to the East Frisian islands (in northwest Germany) inhabited
by 5,935 people nowadays. It
belongs to the region Lower Saxony, in the northwest of the region.
A bit about Norderney
Of the seven East Frisian islands,
Norderney is the youngest.The island has only exsisted in its present
form since middleof the 16th century, being the eastern remnant of the
larger island Bruise.
Untill the 18th century the inhabitants were mainly fishermen. During that century, trade industry grew in importance. Nowadays tourism is the main activity.
In 1797, Norderney became the first German resort on the North Sea. Untill 1933 it had an important population of Jews.

The town of Norderney coined banknotes of 10 Pfennig, 25 Pfennig and 50 Pfennig.
This
banknotes worth 10 Pfennig was first circulated May the 14th of 1920.
On
the main side it can be seen two 10's surrounded by a box. In the
center of the banknote there is a fisherman boat sailing next to the the
island. In the downside part appears the name of the city in Gothic
style, with a red rhombus in each side.
All is enclosed in a border with formed with small circles and a line.
On
the other side of the banknote,
it first says that is the serie II. Then the text is about the validity
of the banknote, just being exchangable a month after the expiration of
the public notice. As for the digital
watermark, it has no watermark. The size of this
banknote is 8.1 cm x 4.8 cm.
