Celle

Celle is a city in the northwest of Germany inhabited by 69,748 people nowadays. It belongs to the region Lower Saxony, in the east of the region.

A bit about Celle
Celle is southern gateway to the Lüneburg Heath, has a castle (Schloss Celle, built in both Renaissance and Baroque style) and a picturesque old town centre with over 400 timber-framed houses .
Celle was first mentioned in 985. From 1378 to 1705, Celle was the official residence of the Lüneburg branch of the dukes of Brunswick-Lüneburg (House of Welf) who had been banished by its townsfolk. Afterwards it became a militar key point and, during WWII, a train with about 4,000 prisiones from the city were transported to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. It surrender to the Allies and that way the city and its palace were not damaged. After the war, Celle applied (along with Bonn and Frankfurt) to become the seat for the Parliamentary Council of West Germany, ending the privilege in Bonn.

75 Pfennig (fünfundsiebzig Pfennig)

This banknotes worth 75 Pfennig was first circulated in January the 31st 1921. On the main side it can be seen the armorial achievement of the town of Celle. In the right and left appear two horses inside a square and over the the text which says it loses its value the 31st of January 1922 appear some timber framing houses' roof.

On the other side of the banknote appears a man riding a horse jumping a fence. In the upper part it can be read "Celler Quartett" and in the lower part "Bürdensprung Amurath m. 3 S Dreigespann "Fahrschule" II. Landgestüt" There is a 75 and the abreviation Pfg (for Pfennig). As for the digital watermark, it has no watermark. The size of this banknote is 10.1 cm x 6.4 cm.
