Myanmar (1965-1979)

This serie of banknotes belongs to the period of general Ne Win militar regime who overthrew U Nu. After passing a new Constitution which defined the country as a "socialist republic", in March 1974 Ne Win was elected President, creating a one-party system, got further from the army, isolated the country, nacionalised the industry and joined the legislative, judicial and executive power in the Revolutionary Council, being re-elected in March 1978. There are banknotes of 1 kyat, 5 kyats, 10 kyats and 20 kyats.  

1 ကျပ်/kyat (တစ်ကျပ်/one kyat)

This banknotes worth 1 kyat was first issued in 1965. On the main side right you can see Aung San, Burmese politician, military and nationalist, commander of the Burmese Independent Army and president of the Antifascist League for the freedom of the peoples. Next to him appears the written value of the banknote, three 1's and ၁'s (1 in Burmese) and in the upper part, the name of the National Bank in Burmese (မြန်မာနိုင်ငံပြည်သူ့ဘဏ်).  
On the other side you can see a fisherman using the traditional method of fishing in Inle lake. You can see two 1's and two ၁'s in opposite sides and the written name of the bankote. In the upper part appears again the name of the National Bank, but in English (Peoples Bank of Burma) and it's fulled with geometric decoration and Myanmar's coat of arms. This banknote has a repeted pattern as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 11.5 cm x 6.6 cm.
