France (1941-1947)

This serie of banknotes belongs to the period of the liberation of France during WW2 and the Allies victory. There are banknotes of 5 French francs, 10 French francs, 20 French francs, 50 French francs, 100 French francs, 1,000 French francs and 5,000 French francs.

5 French francs (cinq francs)

This banknote worth 5 francs was first circulated in June the 2nd of 1943. On the main side right, you can see a Pyrenean shepard and the landscape of this part of France. In the upper part of the banknote appear two 5's and in the left part the name of the National Bank (Banque de France), a gap for the watermark and the written value of the banknote. The rest of the banknote is fulled with decorative elements.
On the other side of the banknote it appears another portrait of a woman of Agenais (southwest of France), surrounded by flowers. In the right there's a 5 and a text saying that the counterfeiter will be punished for hard work in perpetuity. This banknote has a bust of Bernard Palissy, a French Huguenot potter, hydraulics engineer and craftsman as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 9.9 cm x 6.4 cm.
