This serie of banknotes belongs to the
period of North Korea being under the leadership of Kim Il-sung, who
began severing ties with China (after Mao's death) and reemphasizing
national and economic self-reliance enshrined in his Juche Idea (promote producing everything within the country).
There are banknotes of 1 won, 5 won, 10 won, 50 won and 100 won.
This
banknotes worth 1 won was issued in 1978. On
the main side center, you can
see three young people and an adult with a background full of modern buildings, symbolizing the bright future of the country. In their right appear the written value of the banknote and a 1. In their left
appears North Korea's coat of arms, the name of the National Bank in
Korean (조선민주주의인민공화국중앙은행) and another 1, fulled with decorative elements.
On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen a man and a woman soldier and actress Yang Helyong, all representing scenes from the play Sea of Blood, attributed to Kim Il-sung. There are two 1's in opposite corners, the written value of the banknote, the name of the National Bank and decorative elements. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 13.1 cm x 6.5 cm.

holding a sheaf of wheat, with factories in the background. In their right appear the written value of the banknote and a 5. In their left

Korean (조선민주주의인민공화국중앙은행) and another 5.
On the other side of the
banknote, it can be seen Mount Kumgang (known for its scenic beauty since ancient times), near Kumgangsan.

On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen Chollima Steel Complex, one of the largest steel treatment plants in North Korea located near Nanpo. There are two 10's in opposite corners, a stamp, the written value of the banknote, the name of the National Bank and decorative elements. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 15 cm x 7.5 cm.

the main side center, you can
see a peasant, a
worker, an artist and a soldier, pillars of the North Korean regime and the word Juche (주체), philosophical, religious and
ideological system formulated by Kim Il-sung and developed by Kim
Jong-il. In their right appear two 50's and in their left
appears North Korea's coat of arms, the name of the National Bank in
Korean (조선민주주의인민공화국중앙은행) and the written value of the banknote.
On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen the artificial lake Rangrim, considered important area for the conservation of birds, in North North Korea. There are a 50, the written value of the banknote, the name of the National Bank and decorative elements like branches with fruits on the right. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 16.1 cm x 8.1 cm.

the main side center, you can
see Kim Il-sung,
North Korean politician, creator of the Juche ideology and supreme

holding the positions of prime minister (1948-1972), and president
