Japan: occupation by the Allies (1946)

This serie belongs to the period in which the Downfall operation was planned and, after the launching of the atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the consequent Japanese defeat, the American general Douglas MacArthur (Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces) was the de facto leader of Japan. Series A corresponds to South Korean and B bills, from Japan. There are banknotes of 10 sen, 50 sen, 1 yen, 5 yen, 10 yen, 20 yen, 100 yen and 1,000 yen.

5 yen (五圓/ five yen)

This banknote worth 5 yen was issued in 1945. On the main side right appears a B, the serie number and the written value of the banknote in Japanese and English. In the corners there are four 50s (two in Latin characters and two in Japanese ones) and in the upper and lower part, the name of the currency in English (Military currency) and in Japanese (票軍). The rest of the banknote is fulled with leaves.
On the other side of the banknote it has vegetal decorative elements and in the upper and lower part, texts saying that the banknote was issued in accordance with military command in English and Japanese. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 11.3 cm x 6.7 cm.
