This serie of banknotes belongs to the
period of Japan Allied occupation end (with Treaty of San Francisco, 1952) and the entrance in United Nations (UN), in 1956.
There are banknotes of 50 yen, 100 yen, 500 yen, 1,000 yen, 5,000 yen and 10,000 yen.
On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen the National Diet of Japan (国会, Kokkai), the Japanese parliament in Tokyo. In the left part appears a big 100, in the upper one the name of the National Bank transcripted in Latin letters (Nippon Ginko) and also has the written value of the banknote in Latin letters. This banknote has a 100 in the middle as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 14.6 cm x 7.5 cm.
100 yen (百円)
This banknotes worth 100 yen was issued in December 1st 1953. On the main side right, you can see Itagaki Taisuke, a Japanese politician leader of Freedom and People's Rights Movement, first Japanese political party. In his left appears the written value of the banknote and the name of the National Bank in Japanese (日本銀行).
