This serie of banknotes belongs to the period which proclaimed the Constitution of 1956, which declares the country as an Islamic Republic and establishes a democratic parliamentary system as a form of government; Iskander Mirza was the first Bengali president of the country (1956) but he eliminated the democratic system and gave a coup d'état. There are banknotes of 1 rupee, 2 rupees, 5 rupees, 10 rupees and 100 rupees.
On in other side of the banknote it can be seen Naulakha Pavilion, a 17th century white marble personal camera with a curvilinear ceiling which is part of the Walled City of Lahore. In the upper part you can see the name of the National Bank and the written name of the banknote. There are three 1's and in the right part, a gap for the watermark. This banknote has the star and crescent as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 10.2 cm x 6.3 cm.

This banknotes worth 1 rupee was first issued in 1953. On the main side right you can see the star and crescent (which is the planet Venus), a Muslim symbol inherited from the Ottoman Empire. In left side there is a gap for the watermark and in opposite corners you can see four 1's, both with Latin and Arabic characters. There are decorative elements and the written value of the banknote.
