This serie of banknotes belongs to the
period of North Korea being under the leadership of Kim il-sung, during the collapse of the Soviet Union (USSR).
There are banknotes of 1 chon, 5 chon, 10 chon, 50 chon, 1 won, 5 won, 10 won and 50 won.
On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen a 1 surrounded with decorative elements. There are other two 1's in opposite corners, the written value of the banknote and the National Bank's name. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 10.8 cm x 5.5 cm.

This banknotes worth 1 won was issued in 1988. On the main side right, you can see Chollima Statue in Pyongyang, which symbolizes the advance of Korean society. In his left appears the written value of the banknote. In the right part appear North Korea's coat of arms, the name of the National Bank in Korean (조선민주주의인민공화국중앙은행) and a text meaning this is foreign converted money from capitalist countries (외화와바꾼 돈 표).On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen a 1 surrounded with decorative elements.
