Germany (1929-1939)

This serie of banknotes is the previous to the WWII, in the years in which Nazi party won the elections and Adolf Hitler became Chancellor. In those years began the Holocaust, Austria and Czech Republic were annexed to the III Reich. Some of the banknotes were coined by the Deutsche Rentenbank (German Pension Bank) and are called Rentenbankscheine and others were coined by the Reichsbankdirektorium (National Bank) and are called Reichsbanknote. There are banknotes of 1 Rentenmark, 2 Rentenmark, 10 Deutsche Mark, 20 Deutsche Mark, 50 Deutsche Mark, 100 Deutsche Mark and 1,000 Deutsche Mark.

1 Rentenmark (zwei Rentenmark)

This banknotes worth 1 Rentenmark was first circulated January the 30th of 1937. On the main side, you can see the written value of the banknote and the name of the currency (Rentenbankschein). In the right part there is a 1 in the upper right corner and in the lower part appears the name of the German Pension Bank in German (Deutsche Rentenbank). The rest of the banknote is fulled with decorative elements.
On the other side of the banknote, it can be see the written value of the banknote and three 1's
In the middle there is some wheat and it also has a text saying that counterfeiting the banknote is punished with more than two years in prission. This banknote has dots and crosses as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 12 cm x 6.3 cm.






2 Rentenmark (zwei Rentenmark)

This banknotes worth 2 Rentenmark was first circulated January the 30th of 1937. On the main side, you can see the written value of the banknote and the name of the currency (Rentenbankschein). In the right part there is a 2 in the upper right corner and in the lower part appears the name of the German Pension Bank in German (Deutsche Rentenbank). The rest of the banknote is fulled with decorative elements.
On the other side of the banknote, it can be see the written value of the banknote and three 2's
In the middle there is some wheat and it also has a text saying that counterfeiting the banknote is punished with more than two years in prission. This banknote has dots and crosses as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 12.5 cm x 6.9 cm.






10 Deutsche Mark (zehn Mark)

This banknotes worth 10 Mark was first circulated January the 22nd of 1929. On the main side right it can seen Albrecht D. Thaer, German agronomist who discovered humus as a place to feed plants. In the center it appears the written value of the banknote, the name of the currency (Reichsbanknote) and the name of the National Bank in German (Reichsbankdirektorium). On the lower part there's a stamp with an eagle Empire eagle (called Reichsadler), animal that symbolizes the German Empire (Deutsches Reich). There are three 10's and is decorated with geometric elements.
In the left side there are a lot of 10's in circles printed in relief, with a autenticy control stamp. On the other side of the banknote there's a medallion with a peasant holding a sickle, surrounded by cherubs holding a fish and container with fruit, which symbolizes the German agricultural sector. Moreover there're four 10's and a text saying that counterfeiting banknotes is punished with more than two years in prission, all surrounded with decorative elements. This banknote has Albrecht D. Thaer as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 15 cm x 7.2 cm.

20 Deutsche Mark (zwanzig Mark)

This banknotes worth 20 Mark was first circulated January the 22nd of 1929. On the main side right it can seen Werner von Siemens, German inventor, pioneer of electrical engineering and founder of the company Siemens AG. In the center it appears the written value of the banknote, the name of the currency (Reichsbanknote) and the name of the National Bank in German (Reichsbankdirektorium). On the lower part there's a stamp with an eagle Empire eagle (called Reichsadler), animal that symbolizes the German Empire (Deutsches Reich). 
There are three 20's and decorative elements. In the left side there are a lot of 20's in circles printed in relief, with a autenticy control stamp. On the other side of the banknote there's a medallion with a worker holding a hammer, surrounded by cherubs holding an angle and a compass, symbolizing the German industry. Moreover there're four 20's and a text saying that counterfeiting banknotes is punished with more than two years in prission, all surrounded with decorative elements. This banknote has Werner von Siemens as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 16 cm x 8 cm.

50 Deutsche Mark (fünfzig Mark)

This banknotes worth 50 Mark was first circulated March the 30th of 1933. On the main side right it can seen David Hansemann, German Prussian liberal politician, minister and banker. In the center it appears the written value of the banknote, the name of the currency (Reichsbanknote) and the name of the National Bank in German (Reichsbankdirektorium). On the lower part there's a stamp with an eagle Empire eagle (called Reichsadler), animal that symbolizes the German Empire (Deutsches Reich).There are three 50's and decorative elements.
In the left side there are a lot of 50's in circles printed in relief, with a autenticy control stamp. On the other side of the banknote there's cameo with the bust of Mercury (Roman messenger god, of those who travel and trade), flanked by two angels (the one on the left represents the right and the one on the right, literature). Moreover there're four 50's and a text saying that counterfeiting banknotes is punished with more than two years in prission, all surrounded with decorative elements. This banknote has David Hansemann as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 17 cm x 8.4 cm.

100 Deutsche Mark (hundert Mark)

This banknotes worth 100 Mark was first circulated June the 24th of 1935. On the main side right it can seen Justus von Liebig, German chemist, pioneer in the study of organic chemistry. In the center it appears the written value of the banknote, the name of the currency (Reichsbanknote) and the name of the National Bank in German (Reichsbankdirektorium). On the lower part there's a stamp with an eagle Empire eagle (called Reichsadler), animal that symbolizes the German Empire (Deutsches Reich).There are two 100's, an swastika in the background and decorative elements.
In the left side there are a lot of 100's in circles printed in relief, with a autenticy control stamp. On the other side of the banknote there's cameo with the Olympic runner with a torch (in Berlin 1936 was introduced for the first time a relay trip to carry the torch), flanked by two women (the one on the left carrying a book and the one on the right, a distillation matrix). Moreover there're four 100's and a text saying that counterfeiting banknotes is punished with more than two years in prission, all surrounded with decorative elements. This banknote has Justus von Liebig as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 18 cm x 9 cm.
