France (1937-1941)

This serie of banknotes belongs to the period of Popular Front leaded by Léon Blum and, after WWII was declared, the invation of France by Nazi Germany, the armistice and the creation of Vichy collaboration government. There are banknotes of 5 French francs, 10 French francs, 50 French francs, 100 French francs, 300 French francs, 500 French francs, 1,000 French francs and 5,000 French francs.

5 French francs (cinq francs)

This banknote worth 5 francs was first circulated in October the 26th of 1939. On the main side left, you can see a woman with a helmet, proudly facing the future. In the upper part appears the name of the National Bank (Banque de France) and in the lower one, two 5's and a text which says that counterfeiting the banknote is punished with perpetual penal labour. In the middle is written the value of the banknote and in the right, a gap for the watermark.
On the other side of the banknote it appears a dock worker and sailing ships. In the left there's a 5 and in the lower part, the name of the National Bank. The banknote is fulled with decorative elements. This banknote has a helmeted male warrior's head from La Marseillaise, in the Arc of Triomphe of Paris, as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 12.4 cm x 8 cm.
