This serie of banknotes belongs to the period during the end of the
Yugoslav wars (in which peace remained in the country) and the Kosovo
War in 1999, in which 360,000 ethnic Albanian refugees seeked refuge in
the country.
There are banknotes of 10 denars, 50 denars, 100 denars, 500 denars,
1,000 denars and 5,000 denars.
On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen a Roman mosaic with peacoks in the archeological site of Stobi. There are two 10's and has both the written value of the banknote and the name of the National Bank. The whole banknote is full of decorative elements. This banknote has the Isis statue as digital watermark and a security thread. The size of this banknote is 13.9 cm x 6.9 cm.

This banknotes worth 10 denars was first circulated in 1996. On the main side right, you can see a statue of the Egyptian godness Isis (from 2nd century BC), found in Ohrid and in the middle, a gold earring (from 4th century BC), found in Bitola.In the left there is a gap for the watermark and a 10. In the right appears the written value of the banknote and the name of the National Bank in Macedonian (Народна банка на Република Македонија).On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen a Roman mosaic with peacoks in the archeological site of Stobi.
