France (1979-1992)

This serie of banknotes belongs to the period of the revolt of May 1968 and the entrance in the European Union (EU). There are banknotes of 10 French francs, 20 French francs, 50 French francs, 100 French francs and 500 French francs.

10 French francs (deux francs)

This banknote worth 10 francs was first circulated in May the 15th of 1975. On the main side right, you can see Hector Berlioz, a 19th century French Romantic composer, known for plays like Symphonie fantastique and Grande messe des morts. In his right appears a 20 and his face is on a painting of the chapel Capelle de Invalides, in Paris. In the left part appears the name of the National Bank (Banque de France), a gap for the watermark and the written value of the banknote.
In the back part of it appears another portrait of Debussy over the image of the outter part of the chapel. In the right there's a 10 and a text saying that French law punishes the same way who counterfeits and who uses those fake banknotes. This banknote has Berlioz's face as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 13.9 cm x 7.4 cm.

20 French francs (vingt francs)

This banknote worth 20 francs was first circulated in 1984. On the main side right, you can see Claude Debussy, a 19th century French composer, one of the prominent figures of Impressionist music. In his right appears a 20 and his face is on a painting of a sea, homage to his play Le mer (The sea). In the left part appears the name of the National Bank (Banque de France), a gap for the watermark and the written value of the banknote.
In the back part of it appears another portrait of Debussy over the image of the sunset in a countryside. In the right there's a 20 and a text saying that French law punishes the same way who counterfeits and who uses those fake banknotes. This banknote has Debussy's face as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 13.9 cm x 7 cm.


50 French francs (cinquante francs)

This banknote worth 20 francs was first circulated in 1983. On the main side right, you can see Maurice Quentin de La Tour, a Romantic French portrait painter, who worked mainly in pastel, painting Voltaire, Rousseau, Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour. In his right appears a 50 and in the back, Palace of Versailles, former royal residence and one of the most important monarchic architectural buildings in Europe. In the left part appears the name of the National Bank (Banque de France), a gap for the watermark and the written value of the banknote.
In the back part of it appears another portrait of La Tour over the image of Saint-Quentin's town council (place of birth of La Tour). Moreover there are two 50's, the name of the National Bank and a text saying that French law punishes the same way who counterfeits and who uses those fake banknotes. This banknote has Maurice Quentin de La Tour's face as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 15 cm x 8 cm.
