Germany (1919-1922)

This serie of banknotes is the first one after World War I, period in which Weimar Republic was declared at the beginning of the German Revolution in November 1918, leaded by Friedrich Ebert. Some of the banknotes were coined by the Reichsschuldenverwaltung (National Debt Office) and are called Darlehnskassenscheine and others were coined by the Reichsbankdirektorium (National Bank) and are called Reichsbanknote. There are banknotes of 1 Deutsche Mark, 2 Deutsche Mark, 10 Deutsche Mark, 50 Deutsche Mark and 100 Deutsche Mark.

1 Deutsche Mark (ein Mark)

This banknotes worth 1 Mark was first circulated March the 1st of 1920. On the main side, both right and left, you can see two stamps, one in red and another in the paper. They consist in the eagle, animal that symbolizes the Deutsches Reich (German Empire). The whole banknote is written in Gothic style letters and it is decorated with floristic elements. In the lower part appears the name of the National Debt Office in German (Reichsschuldenverwaltung).
It also has a text saying that counterfeiting the banknote is punished with more than two years in prission. In all the paper, in tiny letters there are triangles with flowers and the written value of the banknote.On the other side of the banknote, it can be see the written value of the banknote and five 1's, one of them in the middle inside a circle and surrounded by geometric and floristic elements. As for the digital watermark, it is full of rhombus with crosses inside. The size of this banknote is 9.1 cm x 6 cm.


2 Deutsche Mark (zwei Mark)

This banknotes worth 2 Mark was first circulated March the 1st of 1920. On the main side, both right and left, you can see the written value of the banknote and two stamps, one in brown and another in the paper. They consist in the eagle, animal that symbolizes the Deutsches Reich (German Empire). The whole banknote is written in Gothic style letters and it is decorated with floristic elements. In the lower part appears the name of the National Debt Office in German (Reichsschuldenverwaltung).
It also has a text saying that counterfeiting the banknote is punished with more than two years in prission. On the other side of the banknote, it can be see the written value of the banknote and six 2's, two of them in the middle and surrounded by the written value of the banknote and the two stamps. As for the digital watermark, it is full of rhombus with crosses inside. The size of this banknote is 9.9 cm x 6.6 cm.

10 Mark (zehn Mark)

This banknotes worth 10 Mark was first circulated February the 6th of 1920. On the main side you can see the written value of the banknote and, both right and left, two stamps, one in brown and another in the paper. They consist in the eagle, animal that symbolizes the Deutsches Reich (German Empire). The whole banknote has four 10's and is written in Gothic style letters and it is decorated with floristic elements.
In the upper part appears the name of the National Bank of those times in German (Reichsbankdirektorium). On the other side of the banknote, it can be see a big 10 and the written value of the banknote. It also has a text saying that counterfeiting the banknote is punished with more than two years in prission and decorative elements. As for the digital watermark, it is full of rhombus with crosses inside. The size of this banknote is 12.7 cm x 8.3 cm.

50 Mark (fünfzig Mark)


This banknotes worth 50 Mark was first circulated June the 24th of 1919. On the main side right you can see an allegorical ideal woman. In both right and left appear two black stamps. They consist in the eagle, animal that symbolizes the Deutsches Reich (German Empire). The whole banknote is written in Gothic style letters, has a 50 and it is decorated with floristic elements. In the lower part appears the name of the National Bank of those times in German (Reichsbankdirektorium).
On the other side of the banknote, it can be see two 50's surrounded with floral designs, two RBD's (stands for Reichbankdirektorium) and a text saying that counterfeiting the banknote is punished with more than two years in prission. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 15.4 cm x 10.3 cm.


100 Mark (hundert Mark)

This banknotes worth 100 Mark was first circulated November the 1st of 1920. On the main side, both right and left, you can see two faces, which belong to Bamberg Horseman in Bamberg Cathedral. Both right and left, you can see two red stamps They consist in the eagle, animal that symbolizes the Deutsches Reich (German Empire). The whole banknote is written in Gothic style letters and it is decorated with ribbons. 
In the lower part appears the name of the National Bank of those times in German (Reichsbankdirektorium). On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen five 100's and a floral rosette design. It is inside an decorative element with the shape of H and has a text saying that counterfeiting the banknote is punished with more than two years in prission. . As for the digital watermark, it two 100's in each side plus 2 stars and the M of mark. The size of this banknote is 16.2 cm x 10.7 cm.
