Sweden (1914-1940)

This serie of banknotes belongs to the period in which, during WW1, Sweden was neutral, although it briefly occupied Ã…land islands (Finland) jointly with the Germans and then got closer to the Allies. After the war Sweden got industrialised and in that period began the creation of welfare state (known as Folkhemmet, whose birth was when Social Democrats leaded the government from 1932) which is characteristic of modern Sweden. The country mantained its neutal position also during WW2 despite allowing Germans cross the country to invade Norway. There are banknotes of 1 Swedish krona, 5 Swedish kronor, 10 Swedish kronor, 50 Swedish kronor, 100 Swedish kronor, 1,000 Swedish kronor and 10,000 Swedish kronor.


1 Swedish krona (en krona)

This banknote worth 1 krona was first circulated in 1918. On the main side right it can be seen Mother Svea sat, emblem and female personification of Sweden, usually represented as valkiria or squire. In the center there's the written value of the banknote and the name of the National Bank in Swedish (Sveriges Riksbank) and in opposite sides two 1's. The rest of the banknote is fulled with decorative elements and a text saying that the banknote is issued according the Currency law of May the 30th 1873. 
On the other side you can see the same that on the main side. This banknote has waves as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 12 cm x 6.7 cm.
