Romania (1966-1991)

This serie of banknotes is last of the comunist regime under the leadership of Nicolae Ceaușescu, who stablished an personalist dictatorship until he was overthrown by the Romanian Revolution (1989). There are banknotes of 1 lei, 3 lei, 5 lei, 10 lei, 25 lei, 50 lei and 100 lei.


1 leu (un leu)

This banknotes worth 1 leu was first circulated November the 1st of 1966. On the main side center, you can see socialist Romania's coat of arms. It is surrounded by geometric elements. In the down part it's written the value of this banknote. Moreover there are two 1's located in opposite corners of this paper money. In the upper part you can see the name of the National Bank (Banca Națională a la Republicii Socialiste Romănia).
In the back part of it, there is again the value of the banknote written in the center. This image is surrounded by geometric elements as a border. You can see three 1's, one in each corner in the right and one in the left center. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 10.4 cm x 5.3 cm.


3 lei (trei lei)

This banknotes worth 3 lei was first circulated November the 1st of 1966. On the main side center, you can see socialist Romania's coat of arms. It is surrounded by geometric elements. In the down part it's written the value of this banknote. Moreover there are three 3's located in opposite corners and in the left side of this paper money. In the upper part you can see the name of the National Bank (Banca Națională a la Republicii Socialiste Romănia).
In the back part of it, there is again the value of the banknote written in the center. This image is surrounded by geometric elements as a border. You can see three 3's, one in each corner in the right and one in the left center. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 10.4 cm x 5.3 cm.

5 lei (cinci lei)

This banknotes worth 5 lei was first circulated November the 1st of 1966. On the main side center, you can see socialist Romania's coat of arms. It is surrounded by geometric elements. In the down part it's written the value of this banknote. Moreover there are two 5's in opposite corners. In the upper part you can see the name of the National Bank (Banca Națională a la Republicii Socialiste Romănia). The digital watermark are lines of rhombus.
In the back part of it, there is an scene in a port full with fishing boats. This image is surrounded by geometric elements as a border. You can see three 5's, one in each corner in the right and one in the left center. The size of this banknote is 12 cm x 6.1 cm.



10 lei (zece lei)

This banknotes worth 10 lei was first circulated November the 1st of 1966. On the main side center, you can see socialist Romania's coat of arms. It is surrounded by geometric elements. In the down part it's written the value of this banknote. Moreover there are three 10's along the border of this paper money. In the upper part you can see the name of the National Bank (Banca Națională a la Republicii Socialiste Romănia).
In the back part of it, there is an scene of harvesting, with a harvester and tractors. This image is surrounded by geometric elements as a border. You can see three 10's, one in each corner in the right and one in the left center. The digital watermark are lines of rhombus. The size of this banknote is 13.1 cm x 6.5 cm.



25 lei (douazeci si cinci lei)

This banknotes worth 25 lei was first circulated November the 1st of 1966. On the main side left, you can see Tudor Vladimirescu, leader of the Wallachian uprising in 1821 and of the Trenck's Pandur militia. In the center you can see the symbol of comunist Romania. In the upper part you can see the name of the National Bank (Banca NaÈ›ională a la Republicii Socialiste Romănia) and a text saying that counterfeiting banknotes is punished by law. 
The rest of the banknote is fulled with decorative elements. The digital watermark are lines of rhombus.In the back part of it, there is a factory, which is the coke ovens of the Hunedoara Steeworks. In the left there is a edging with geometric elements. You can see two 25's, one in each side. The size of this banknote is 14 cm x 6.8 cm.



50 lei (douazeci si cinci lei)

This banknotes worth 25 lei was first circulated November the 1st of 1966. On the main side left, you can see Alexandru Ioan Cuza, prince of the United Principalities of Wallachi and Moldova (1859-1866). In the center you can see the symbol of comunist Romania. In the upper part you can see the name of the National Bank (Banca NaÈ›ională a la Republicii Socialiste Romănia) and a text saying that counterfeiting banknotes is punished by law. 
The rest of the banknote is fulled with decorative elements. In the back part of it appears the Palace of Culture in Iași. In the left there is a edging with geometric elements. You can see two 50's, one in each side. The digital watermark are lines of rhombus. The size of this banknote is 14.5 cm x 7.2 cm.


100 lei (una suta lei)

This banknotes worth 100 lei was first circulated November the 1st of 1966. On the main side left, you can see Nicolae Bălcescu, leader of the Wallachian Revolution in 1848 (nationalist, liberal and romantic revolution in the south of Romania). In the center you can see the symbol of comunist Romania. In the upper part you can see the name of the National Bank (Banca Națională a la Republicii Socialiste Romănia) and a text saying that counterfeiting banknotes is punished by law.
The rest of the banknote is fulled with decorative elements.The digital watermark are lines of rhombus.In the back part of it, there is the Romanian Athenaeum, a concert hall in the center of Bucharest. In the left there is a edging with geometric elements. You can see four 100's, one in each corner.The size of this banknote is 15.3 cm x 7.5 cm.
