British Armed Forces (1972-1979)

This serie of banknotes belongs to the period to the sixth series of bills, issued because the United Kingdom changed to the decimal system (a distinction is made between the new penny and old penny, the one associated with the pre-decimal system). There are banknotes of 5 new pences, 10 new pences and 50 new pences.

5 new pences (five new pence)

This banknotes worth 5 new pences was first circulated in 1968. On the main side left, you can see a pence symbol and a 5 (in each corner there's one). In the middle it has the written value of the banknote, the name of the entity which issued it (British Armed Forces) and a text saying that it was issued by Command of the Defence Council; in the lower part is said 6th serie. All this is decorated with geometric elements.
On the other side of the banknote it can be seen two big 5p's, with other two in the other corners and the written value of the banknote. Moreover it has a text that says the places where the banknote can be used (and exceptions) and the punishment in case it's used in a bad way. This banknote has waves as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 11.5 cm x 5.8 cm.

10 new pences (ten new pence)

This banknotes worth 10 new pences was first circulated in 1968. On the main side left, you can see a pence symbol and a 10 (in each corner there's one). In the middle it has the written value of the banknote, the name of the entity which issued it (British Armed Forces) and a text saying that it was issued by Command of the Defence Council; in the lower part is said 6th serie.
