China (1999-2005)

This serie belongs to the period after the return of the colonies of Macao (Portugal) and Hong Kong (United Kingdom) in 1999, with the country growing economically very fast and Hu Jintao as the leader of the country. There are banknotes of 1 yuan, 2 yuans, 5 yuans, 10 yuans, 20 yuans, 50 yuans and 100 yuans.

5 yuans (伍圆/wǔ yuán)

This banknotes worth 5 yuans was issued in 1999. On the main side right it can be seen Mao Zedong, Supreme Leader of the Communist Party of China and the People's Republic of China, since the victory of the Chinese Revolution (1949) until his death in 1976. Next to them there are two 5's, a lotus flower and in their right, the written value of the banknote. In the upper part appears the name of the National Bank in Chinese (中国人民银行) and in the left, China's coat of arms. The rest of the banknote is fulled with decorative elements. 
On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen an image from Mount Tai (or Tài Shān), one of the 5 sacred mountains in Taoism, located in Tai'an (泰安), Shandong. There are three 5's (one on each corner but the lower right one) and tthe name of the National Bank in Latin characters (Zhongguo Renmin Yinhang), in Manchu (ᠳᠤᠮᠳᠠᠳᠤ
ᠤᠯᠤᠰ ᠤᠨ
ᠠᠷᠠᠳ ᠤᠨ
ᠪᠠᠩᠬᠢ
), in Tibetic (
ཀྲུང་གོ་མི་དམངས། མི་རྣམས།དངུལ་ཁང་།), in Uyghur (جۇڭگو خەلق بانكا) and in Zhuang (Cunghgoz Yinzminz Yinzhangz). This banknote has lotus flowers as digital watermark and a iridiscent thread too. The size of this banknote is 13.5 cm x 6.3 cm.
