This serie of banknotes belongs to the
period in which the Parliament of Jersey (States of Jersey) debated
about the availability of the independence of the island and its
difficulties. There are banknotes of 1 pound, 5 pounds, 10 pounds, 20
pounds,
50 pounds and 100 pounds.
This
banknote worth 1 pound was first circulated in 2000. On the main side
right it can be seen the queen Elizabeth II, who is the queen of the
territory as queen of the United Kingdom.
In the center can be seen the Liberation Sculpture in Saint Heiler
(from the German occupation) and Jersey's coat of arms. It also has
three
1's, the wrriten value of the banknote and the name of the entity who
coins the banknotes in English (States of Jersey).
In
the left part of the banknote appears the shape of the island and has a
gap for the digital watermark and decorative elements. On the other side of the banknote it can be seen Le Hocq Tower and La
Hougue Bie (place with a Neolithic monument and a medieval chapel).
Moreover there are three 1's, the flags of all the parishes of the
island in the left and the written value of the banknote in French and
Jèrrais.
This banknote has a cow, a 1 and stripes as digital watermark. The size
of the banknote is 12.8 cm x 6.6
cm.
