Laos (1979-1988)

This serie of banknotes belongs to period in which Vietnam and Laos strengthen their economic relationships and allowed the presence of 30,000 Vietnamese soldiers, suffering an important economic crisis (after the problems with Thailand and China), in which Pathet Lao regime started an economic liberalisation and in the 1980's the relationship with China improved, because the Prime Minister Kaysone Phomvihane followed some economic principles of  Deng Xiaoping. There are banknotes of 1 kip, 5 kips, 10 kips, 20 kips, 50 kips and 100 kips.

10 kips (ສິບກີບ)

This banknotes worth 10 kips was first circulated in 1979. On the main side left, you can see some workers in a lumber mill working with some logs. The rest of the banknote is fulled with decorative elements and there are two 10's in opposite corners. The right part of the banknote has the Laosian coat of arms and in the middle appears the name of the National Bank in Lao (ທະນາຄານແຫ່ງສາທາລະນະລັດປະຊາທິປະໄຕປະຊາຊົນລາວ).
On the other side of the banknote, it can be seen two images of a hospital, the left primary healthcare and the right, surgery. It can also be seen that there are four 10's in opposite corners, the name of the National Bank and the written value of the banknote in Lao in the right. This banknote has starts and tilia leaves as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 11.3 cm x 5.7 cm.
