This serie of banknotes belongs to the
period in which a presidentialist regime was passed and in 1963 elections the general Park Chung-hee, stablished the Third Republic of South Korea (half-democaratic
system), reelected in 1967. During this period, and thanks to Japanese
and American help, South Korea grew economically and the relationships
with Japan were normalised in the Treaty on Basic Relations between
Japan and the Republic of Korea (1965). There are banknotes of 10 chon,
50 chon, 1 won, 5 won, 10
won, 50 won, 100 won and 500 won.
On the other side it can be seen the written value of the banknote in Latin alphabet and the name of the National Bank in English (The Bank of Korea), a 50, the written value in Korean and vegetal decorative elements. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 9 cm x 5 cm.
50 chon (오십 전)
This banknotes worth 50 chon was first issued in 1962. On the main side right you can see the written value of the banknote in Hangul alphabet. In the upper part appears the name of the National Bank in Korean (한국은행권), having in two opposite corners the written value of the banknote and two 50's, plus a stamp. The banknote is fulled with decorative elements.On the other side it can be seen the written value of the banknote in Latin alphabet and the name of the National Bank in English (The Bank of Korea), a 50, the written value in Korean and vegetal decorative elements. This banknote has no digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 9 cm x 5 cm.
