England (1948-1960)

This serie of banknotes belongs to the period of England and period of the United Kingdom in which, after belonging to the winning side of the Second World War, lost India, joined NATO (being an important ally of the USA) and with the electoral electoral victory of Clement Attlee began a process of prosperity in the 50s, creating the welfare state in the country, and the arrival of immigrants from former colonies. Until 1971 the numbering system used was not the decimal, so one pound was divided into 20 shillings and each of these, in 12 pennies (so in each pound there were 240 pennies.. There are banknotes of 10 shillings and 1 pound.

10 shillings (ten shillings)

This banknote worth 10 shillings was first circulated in 1955. On the main side left, you can see Britannia, the female personification of the United Kingdom (and the name of the region in Roman times). In the center it has the written value of the banknote and in the upper part, the name of the National Bank in English (Bank of England). In the right there is a 10; in the lower middle part, a gap for the digital watermark and the rest of the banknote is fulled with decorative elements.
On the other side you can seen in both the left and right side, a representation of the written value of the banknote (10/-), with the first number meaning the number of shillings and the second, of pennies. The rest of the banknote is fulled with floristic motif. This banknote has curved lines and godness Britannia with a helmet as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 13.8 cm x 7.9 cm.

1 pound (one pound)

This banknote worth 1 pound was first circulated in 1955. On the main side left, you can see Britannia, the female personification of the United Kingdom (and the name of the region in Roman times). In the center it has the written value of the banknote and in the upper part, the name of the National Bank in English (Bank of England). In the right there is a 1; in the lower middle part, a gap for the digital watermark and the rest of the banknote is fulled with decorative elements.
On the other side you can seen in both the left and right side, a representation of Saint George and the Dragon. The rest of the banknote is fulled with floristic motif and in the upper part apears the facade of Buckingham Palace (where the Queen lives), in London. This banknote has curved lines and godness Britannia with a helmet as digital watermark. The size of this banknote is 15.1 cm x 8.5 cm.
