This serie of banknotes belongs to the period during the Second World War, in which Germany invaded Norway establishing Josef Terboven as Reichkomissar, deposing the king and the government of Nygaardsvold, appointing Vidkun Quisling, leader of Nasjonal Samling (fascist party), as minister president. Meanwhile there was a resistance movement led by Haakon VI and the legitimate government of Prime Minister Nygaardsvold from London, which achieved its first successes in the Battle of Heavy Water, the country being liberated when it surrendered Germany (there being a major purge). Elections were called and Einar Gerhardsen the Labor Party triumphed, being the founding member of the UN, aligning with the Western bloc and receiving economic aid from the Marshall Plan.

This banknotes worth 1 crown was issued in 1946. On the main side right appears the written value of the banknote and in the upper part, the name of the National Bank in Norwegian (Norges Bank).
