This serie of banknotes belongs to the period after the
approval in referendum of the Constitution of Nagorno-Karabakh (2006)
and the referendum of the Constitution of 2017, in which the country
went from being a semi-presidential republic and with the official name
of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh to be a republic presidentialist named República de Artsaj; and
the War of the Four Days of 2016, in which Azerbaijan got the town of
Talysh and its surroundings, a total of 2,000 hectares (800 according to
Armenia). The presidents in this period have been Arkady Ghukasyan (1997-2007) and Bako Sahakyan (since 2007). The country de jure belongs to Azerbaijan, but de facto is controlled by Armenia (90% of its population is Armenian).
There are banknotes of 2 drams and 10 drams.
On the other side of the banknote there's bas-relief with a Christian cross and the image of Saint John the Baptist baptizing Jesus Christ, a barrel of wine with grapes and the coat of arms. Moreover there are two 2's, the official name of the territory, the written value of the banknote and decorative elements. This banknote has the words Security print as digital watermark and a security thread with the name of the country in English (Nagorno Karabakh Republic) too. The size of this banknote is 15 cm x 8 cm.
On the other side of the banknote there's one of Khodaafarin Bridges (Lalazar one), two medieval bridges that joined Iran with Artsakh; a typical carpet of Upper Karabakh, a barrel of wine with grapes and the coat of arms. Moreover there are two 10's, the official name of the territory, the written value of the banknote and decorative elements. This banknote has the words Security print as digital watermark and a security thread with the name of the country in English (Nagorno Karabakh Republic) too. The size of this banknote is 16.5 cm x 9 cm.
2 drams (Õ¥Ö€Õ¯Õ¸Ö‚ Õ¤Ö€Õ¡Õ´)
This banknote worth 2 drams was first circulated in 2004. On the main side left it can be seen Gandzasar monastery (Ô³Õ¡Õ¶Õ±Õ¡Õ½Õ¡Ö€), a 13th century Armenian monastery, in Martakert region town of Vank. In the right appears Saint Gregory the Illuminator, founder and patron saint of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
