This serie of banknotes belongs to the period
of the history of England in which the Redcliffe-Maudy Report was
produced, which changed the local organization of England, and the
period of the United Kingdom marked by the growth and economic
development, the conflict of Northern Ireland between Catholics and
Protestants, the French veto for access to the European Economic Community (1963) and the decolonization of colonial territories. Until
1971 the numbering system used was not the decimal, so one pound was
divided into 20 shillings and each of these, in 12 pennies (so in each
pound there were 240 pennies). There are banknotes of 10 shillings, 1 pound, 5 pounds and 10 pounds.
