This serie of banknotes belongs to the period of the history of England and the United Kingdom in which a referendum on the permanence of the United Kingdom in the European Union was held with 51.9% of votes in favor of leaving the European entity (which led to the resignation of PM David Cameron), which began the Brexit, with the government of Theresa May. There are banknotes of 5 pounds, 10 pounds and 20 pounds.

5 pounds (five pounds)

This banknotes worth 5 pounds was first circulated in 2016. On the main side right, you can see the queen Elizabeth II, queen of the UK, that has been reigning for more than 60 years and two 5's. In the center it has Buckingham Palace (the royal residence), in London; the four nations coat of arms, the written value of the banknote and the name of the National Bank in English (Bank of England). In the left there's a 5 and the National Bank logo, the rest of the banknote is fulled with decorative elements.
On the other side you can see Winston Churchill, an English politician and writer who led the UK to the victory in the Second World War and won a Nobel prize in 1953; next to him appears his sentence I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat. The rest of the banknote is fulled the image of Houses of Parliament (the British parliament), decorative elements, a 5 and the written value of the banknote. Unlike many banknotes, it's made of polymer (plastic) so that is why this banknote has no digital watermark but transparent windows (with Elizabeth II, the Big Ben, the royal crown and the pound symbol). The size of this banknote is 12.1 cm x 6.5 cm.
